A typical North Indian folk instrument from Punjab is the tumbi or toombi. It is frequently referred to as "ektara," which means "one strung." It has a straightforward, rounded neck. A single metal string that acts as the tuning head is attached from the front to a large tuning peg. To reach the end of the stick, the string passes over a sizable, loose bridge in the skin's centre. The tumbi may be played with two hands by holding it horizontally and plucking the string. It is now widely used in Western "bhangra" music.
